Our Accudraft Paint Booths can do a lot of things. Without a doubt, our paint booths give you a much better finish than any other paint booth manufacturer in the industry. Yet, if your paint booth filters are clogged and debris is seeping into the container, your jobs are not going to look their best. Keep yours spotless with these 5 tips.
How to Achieve a Spotless Paint Booth
The beauty of using an Accudraft paint booth is that it already minimizes the amount of debris and contaminants that get into your booth. Our advance engineered efficiency designs help to keep the air inside your booth clean. However, it won’t last long without good regular cleaning and maintenance habits.
#1: Keep Your Paint Booth Clutter Free
Make this a habit: Keep soiled rags, towels, cloths, and sponges, out of your paint booth.
A cluttered paint booth is both a fire hazard and an eyesore. It increases the chances that your jobs will become contaminated and those contaminants will clog your filters and fans quicker, reducing their effectiveness and longevity. Make sure that all of your windows, vents, and openings are sealed so that outside debris does not get into your booth.
#2: Clean Up Overspray
Make this a habit: Clean your booth interiors regularly.
Really you should clean your paint booth as often as you can, weekly, even daily for some high volume shops. There are no other paint booths as good at eliminating outside debris as our Accudraft Paint Booths are, but they can only do half of the job.
Paint booth operators must also employ smart rules to keep the area clean and free of hazardous materials. You could use a high-quality protective film for your paint booth, especially in high volume shops.
Otherwise, you could either use paint cleaner on sponges to clean your paint booth or you could choose an industrial vacuum suitable for paint booths; meaning they produce low heat.
Do not try to use a vacuum without verifying that it can be used in a paint booth. When you use a vacuum to clean up paint overspray and other chemicals, heat could cause a fire and or explosion hazard.
#3: Check and Replace Your Filters Regularly
Make this a habit: Check your exhaust filters every two to three weeks.
Perhaps the most important tip we can give you is to check and replace your filters regularly. Particularly, check your exhaust filters and or replace them every two to three weeks for high volume shops.
Your exhaust filters see the most traffic because they expel any debris entering your booth from the outside and all of the paint and chemical debris used inside. Therefore, they will need to be replaced more often than your intake filters, which often last a few months even in high volume garages. Accudraft Paint Booths alert you when it’s time to change your filters.
#4: Prevent Moisture and Paint Buildup
Make this a habit: Rinse your tools and equipment every day.
If you rinse your hoses, sprayers, and brushes everyday as part of your operation protocol, then you are going to ensure that your paint booth operates at a high level over a longer period of time. If you don’t do it, your equipment and filters will wear out sooner.
Using an air filtration system like our air makeup units could cause moisture build up if you are not vigilant about keeping your sprayers clean. Fortunately, our systems are also designed to reduce condensation thereby increasing its overall durability.
#5: Schedule Regular Paint Booth Cleanup and Maintenance
Make this a habit: Inspect your paint booth daily, weekly, and monthly.
Finally, when you inspect your equipment regularly and make it a mission to keep your booths spotless at all times, you will be able to operate your paint booth at optimal performance for decades to come.
Too many body shop owners focus too much on passing inspection, so much so that they forget that these maintenance tips are important every day of the year. Making repairs or waiting to enhance your paint booth just to appease inspectors is not a smart strategy.
